To whom is this course recommended?
This course is designed for individuals aged 18 and over who are interested in pursuing a career in civil construction design and infrastructure. It is suited to international students from a range of backgrounds, including those with limited industry experience looking to enter the field, and those with prior knowledge seeking to upskill into senior design roles. Students are expected to have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent, and meet the English language entry requirements.
Study Pathway
Once students have successfully completed the RII50520 Diploma of Civil Construction Design and RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design dual qualification package, they may gain employment in civil engineering design roles including Civil Engineering Draftsperson and Senior Civil Works Designer within the Resources and Infrastructure Industry.
The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include:
- Bachelor programs at university
- Higher Education programs with other education providers within the Resources and Infrastructure Industry sector, subject to meeting entry requirements of the intended qualification
Entry Requirement
Students must have/ or be:
- Minimum age of 18 at the date of course enrolment
- Successfully completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent, or be of mature age with adequate LLN skills
- Demonstrated IELTS score of at least 6.0 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old), OR successful completion of at least General English or English for Academic Purposes at Upper Intermediate level, OR pass Abbey College Australia’s English proficiency entry test
- Suitable level of language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills to complete course requirements, with or without additional support
- Pass an Abbey College Australia entry test designed to assess the level of English proficiency.
